During the Covid pandemic, VM felt challenged to build new artwork, which could be a resistance to, but also an expression of the constraints of being confined in to avoid infection. VM decided to make a virtue of the limited options. She observed and photographed objects and details normally skimmed over or ignored, photographing tiny plants, shadows, patterns made by different structures, and anything suggesting enclosure. She made collages of these images to suggest ideas and atmospheres which expressed imprisonment, small worlds, and things we cannot yet see or know.
